I am turning a woodworking hobby into a business in North Texas.  Unusual woods began to interest me a few years ago while I was building small jewelry boxes.  What better way to individualize my craft than to use a one-of-a-kind piece of wood.  The adventure began as I amassed quite a collection of intesting pieces of wood.  I then began to look around me at the under utilized tree species in Texas.  Once I began discovering the interesting and uncommon local woods, I found out about urban sawmilling.  Urban sawmilling is where trees that would normally be disposed of in landfills are sawn into lumber.  I have used quite a bit of it and have decided to purchase a sawmill to saw my own locally.  As far as I know, there is no other urban sawmill in the Dallas area.  The sawmill is also going to be used to saw on site for anyone that needs some trees cut into lumber instead of burning or dumping them.  I like wood so much I even bought a little piece of heaven in Northeast Texas:
